Dr. Orsolya FERENCZMinisterial Commissioner for Space Research Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Dr. Orsolya Ferencz was born in Budapest in 1970 and is a mother of four. She holds degrees as an electrical engineer and a space researcher, and in recent years, she has also entered the political arena. She graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 1993 and continued her studies at the Institute for High Frequency Technology and Electronics in Karlsruhe. In 2000, she earned her PhD from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Since 1996, she has been a senior research fellow at the Department of Geophysics and Space Science at Eötvös Loránd University. Between 2013 and 2015, she worked as a researcher for the Hungarian Academy of Sciences at the Geodetic and Geophysical Institute of the Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences.
In 2018, she was appointed Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and she is the implementer of the HUNOR - Hungarian Astronaut Program. From 2018 to 2024, she led the Hungarian delegation to the European Space Agency. In 2020, she was granted the title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Since 2023, she has been a member of the Hungarian Parliament, the founder of the Parliament's Space Policy Working Group, and a member of the Fidesz parliamentary group.
